Adam John Cullen is a Melbourne based visual artist, largely working with sculpture and installation. Key themes explored across his practice are ideas of commodity exchange and trade, as well as the personal histories of found objects.

Cullen‘s work considers the life cycle of materials and the movement of objects over time. The artist utilises, modifies and references mass-produced items and uses labor-intensive and process-based production techniques to generate sculptural work. The artist also works with pre-existing artworks, studio trials and experiments, which are broken down, recycled and reworked, into new sculptural installations. Through this process of transformation and rejuvenation, Cullen draws our attention to the personal histories of materials and the value attached to them in their different stages of existence.
