Viva Video! Te-Mao Lee Solo Exhibition

Viva Arte Viva”: Art is the most precious part of the human being. It is the ideal place for reflection, individual expression, freedom and fundamental questions… More than ever, the role, the voice and the responsibility of the artist are crucial in the framework of contemporary debates. Art is so important because it causes an irreplaceable conversion in the human life experience. The artwork in this exhibition is concerned with the happening of conversion in video. The conversion is the trigger that makes audience feel and think again about the world. I ponder upon the clean language of video that has relaxation, clear and thinking ability. This is the product of video and the object of photograph through intuitive thinking, reduction and conversion. It is like a source that they explore variety of topics in all directions, such as digital border and natural border, video content and time, the observer’s role of the camera lens, reduction and transformation of the video, and express of metaphor. Artworks create and expose the thing that we call art. In the process of exposing, directing experience and comprehend are coexist and staggered. Therefore, the pure image / object, temporality / time, concept / significance, invisibility / visibility to form opposition and then collapse. Such as the exclamation
Viva”. Pure composition and lens perspective are extended in time, the carrier extracted on the recorded content, so that works obtain a particular field of vision. It differs from life experiences through another angle closer to the eidetic reduction of real video.
Viva Video” refers to the development of a universal language of art, which doesn’t service any particular object. Artwork processes the concept rather than the meaning, for example, seawater, light spot, rail track and river, they all are the concept of their noun, rather than the intermediaries to carry symbols or narratives. Once the art experience is formed, the artworks and the audience will directly connect, so that the audience will be raised and suspended above the existing knowledge and experience of the system. Te-Mao Lee, currently lives in Hualien, with philosophy, physics and computer program background. His media of artwork is video. He concerns about the art language with directing experience and thinking, and explores key conversions in the artwork.
