Three Types and Use of Narrative
Date: 2019.11.19~20, 13:30~16:30
Venue: Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, TNUA
Lecturer: Yang Ah Ham

Introduction

Coming from modernism to postmodernism, the interest in narratives is rising in literature theory, history, anthropology, art, film, theology, philosophy, linguistics and education, etc. But the concept of what narratives are is not clear. Narrative is often understood as the result of stories, artwork, performances, literature, and movies. However, narratives are formed from the level of awareness before they are seen as a result, with the author making the interpretation of events as a fictional reconstruction. Also, in the process of communicating between the author and the audience through the medium of the result, they are transformed into actual experiences as they meet with the audience’s own experience. This workshop examines conceptually how these three forms of narratives are organized. Later, participants will explore ways to actually implement each process to find out how narratives can be used to develop their own creative activities and relationships with others, and to give meaning to life.
