George Clark studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, London. His work bridges art and curatorial practice with a particular focus on film, exploring the history of images and how they are governed by culture and technology as well as social and political conditions. Recent projects include A Distant Echo a feature length shot on 35mm film in various Californian deserts, On The Planters Art, an illustrated lecture on films, maps and gardening and Sea of Clouds based on an interview with the artist Chen Chieh-Jen. His exhibition upcoming exhibition at Soulangh Cultural Park, Tainan June-July 2016 features a specially grown garden and film works drawing on outtakes from a government educational film, photographs from a Taiwanese historical wax museum with new 35mm footage shot in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. George's curatorial projects have focused on exploring and expanding histories of film and video practice globally. While assistant curator of film at Tate Modern, and in independent projects he has explored expanded cinema and ethnographic film and curated retrospectives of Luis Ospina, Chick Strand, Camille Henrot and Lav Diaz among others.
